Why are you the best candidate for this position? 

• My passion improve the quality of public education in our community.

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? 

After speaking to parents, students, and teachers, these are my priorities. 

• I will attempt to pass and enact policy on a parent’s bill of rights.  I will support parents being engaged in their child’s education. I will provide greater transparency into the boards decisions.
• Focus policy to raise academic standards in Reading, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Ensure that by third grade all ISD 181 students can read at grade level.
• Ensure ISD 181 has a successful safety plan, tools and training to identify students who may have mental health issues or are prone to violence.

How will you work with staff and teachers to promote safety in our schools? 

I have 42 years in public safety as a police officer, firefighter and paramedic. I can ensure effective policies to cover cyberbullying/ bullying, cybersecurity, infectious disease, mental health, and targeted violence. We need to ensure we have a up to date emergency plans, to include recovery, training, exercises, and drills. These need to be done secondary to threat assessments conducted yearly. I will champion evaluating the districts physical security, violence prevention and clear reporting platforms and make changes as necessary.
