Did you know that you can opt put of any surveys by notifying your school?

The New York Times recently reported of a major cyberattack on Illuminate Education,. Illuminate Education is a provider of student-tracking software. More than one million student records were impacted, including data such as test scores and behavioral issues.
Pearson Education, (is a British-owned education publishing and assessment service to schools and corporations, as well for students directly), also recently was subjected to a cyber attack in which millions of student email addresses and birthdays were stolen.
Think as a parent to paying close attention to how your children’s school collects and stores data. One aspect of data collection is the increasingly prevalent and invasive student surveys, which can ask questions on political beliefs, parents' income levels, race, gender and/or sexuality. ISD 181 just did this in the last school year.

Know that you can opt your child out of any surveys by notifying the school. Advise them you want to opt out of school surveys.

Surveys do have a place and time but can transmit sensitive data into the cloud were it is a tempting target for hackers.
